Perhaps there've been too many women. Waking up in a small hospital in Washington State, bandaged and bruised, James barely recognizes the gorgeous blonde who comes to visit. Through the haze of pain and medication, he recalls that she is Sophia, the woman he's been cheating with. Gradually memories return--his girlfriend, Megan, had found out about Sophia. Now Megan is missing, her sister is hounding him--and police and reporters are asking questions. James insists he has no idea what happened. Yet he can't escape a feeling of dread...
Meanwhile, in a locked room, a woman waits, trapped, petrified, desperate. She thought she knew who to trust. But the betrayal you can't imagine--or can't remember--may be the most terrifying weapon of all...
My Review:
5 Stars
The Cahill family always intrigues me. That family has more skeletons than a cemetery. So many secrets and indiscretions from one family is a lot to comprehend, but Ms. Jackson does it beautifully.
In this latest installment we're focused on James Cahill. Located outside of San Francisco for this story, we're in the mountains where you know anything can happen.
James wakes up with no memory of what put him in the hospital. To make matters worse his girlfriend, or ex depending on who you ask, is missing. Gone without a trace.
The police are hinting that James is the culprit, but the one thing James is certain of is that he is not responsible for Megan's disappearance. It's up to him to remember that fateful night and get to the bottom of what actually happened.
Thrilling from beginning to finish. Lisa Jackson's books always give me the great satisfaction of reading a well crafted story.
