Nick Marino is the star of the basketball team, grandson to the wealthiest woman in the county, and the town drug dealer. Nick introduces Dani to Thizz on their first date and suddenly smiling becomes easy, conversations are comfortable. Now if she can just figure out if the tingles she’s feeling are caused by Nick or Thizz. After a few weeks of both – she doesn’t care.

With Nick by her side, thizz flowing through her veins, and Matt keeping all her secrets – Dani settles into her new life; forgetting about the tragedy that drove her there, and the plan she had to escape.

Matt fell in love with Dani the first time he saw her.   He also knew whatever drove her from San Francisco to Eureka in her last semester of high school wasn’t something she wanted to share.  When she finally started to open up, Matt hesitated just long enough for his best friend Nick to swoop in. Forced to sit and watch their relationship grow, Matt also learns of Dani’s obsession with Thizz.  He secretly feeds her addiction in a desperate attempt to win her heart.

Pressured into joining Nick’s crew, Matt finds himself in the middle of Eureka’s own hyphy movement and the hit list of a local biker gang. When a school project uncovers a disturbing link between Dani’s parents and Nick’s uncle, Matt is torn between his loyalty to Nick and his feelings for Dani as he tries to convince Dani that her life is in real danger; while persuading Nick to turn on his uncle to save the girl they love.

What inspires you to write

Whether I’m standing with a group of friends at a party or texting my cousin about my weekend - I am always telling stories. I think I’ve always been a writer. When I was a kid I loved office supply stores almost as much as toys stores. I would hoard fresh notebooks under my pillow, waiting to fill them with words.

The thing that inspires me to write those words and tell those stories is not an easy answer. I write because I don’t feel like exercising. I write to clear the crazy. I write because I have to.

Writing is the only way I have total control.  Control over words, outcomes, and people (even if they only exist in my head).  I love the idea of creating a world or a person that I can share.  That people will love.  Much like giving birth to a child, only that kid grows up to have their own thoughts, own words, own life.  A character I create will always be mine and I can share as little or as much of him or her with the rest of the world as I want.

Music and books are a huge part of what inspires me to write. Reading something so beautifully put together, ugh. It makes me want to puke, then go write something just as amazing.  Once I’ve been inspired I use music to get me from point A to point B.  Words and music are like gin and tonic - I can’t have one without the other.  I’ll hear one line from a song and be able to write 50,000 words.  One line - ten words, that turn into thousands.

I think I just figured out the answer to this question.  Music.  Music inspires me to write. Period.

  1. Wow, for a debut book, this certainly has me intrigued. Not generally a comtemporary romance reader, the last paragraph of the overview had me wanting to know what happens. Definitely going on my TBR list. Good luck with it and hope it does really well.
