The clear gem darkens in color once placed upon a magical’s forehead indicating the strength of their magic. Teah’s stone darkens to a deep black marking her as the strongest magical in Caltoria since her ancestor, the first Queen of Ter Chadain. This draws unwanted attention and puts her future in great peril. Logan and his small band of rescuers must hurry. Their quest is difficult. The cost is high. New allies are found. Old friends are lost…forever. Risking death at every turn, they rush to rescue Teah. But the only way Logan can save Teah and keep Ter Chadain from falling under Caltorian rule is by not only risking death, but risking something more precious…his freedom.
About the Author-
C.S. Yelle was born and raised in Grand Rapids, MN, the "almost" middle child of six. He attended Grand Rapids Senior High School where he enjoyed music and sports. He received his BS in Chemistry from Mayville State University, Mayville, ND in 1987. He taught 7-12 Science and coached for six years in several North Dakota schools and currently works as an Executive Account Manager in the Water Treatment Industry where he has been for nearly seventeen years. He is the father of four and grandfather of one. He writes novels, screenplays, and an occasional short story. He has been writing seriously for over ten years and plans to continue until his fingers are unable, maybe longer. He currently resides in a Minneapolis, MN suburb with his wife Jennifer.

Logan Lassain
Title: Protector of Ter Chadain

Height and Weight: 6’1”, 220lbs
Likes: Loyalty, Family, Friends
Dislikes: Betrayal, dishonesty, sister in danger, others sacrificing for him.
Habits: Running his hands through his hair when he is disgusted or deep in thought.
Personality Traits: Quick to lose temper, quick reacting to issues, cautious in trusting.
History to this point: Raised on a farm. Becomes Protector after foster family is slaughtered.
Logan has a deep seething anger fueled not only by his own desire for revenge for the deaths of his parents and foster family, but also from the past Protectors who push all their experiences into him as well when he becomes the Protector. He must fight to keep control of his new abilities and try to restrain the constant urge to kill and destroy any that would stand in his way or do him or those he cares about, harm. He realized early on that with his great abilities comes the sense of responsibility to control it and not harm anyone who may resist him without understanding his wrath. He shows little mercy to soldier and assassins, but tries not to kill people who are fighting for the wrong cause due to misguided beliefs or views. When he does end up killing these types of people, he is very remorseful.
Teah Lassain
Title: Queen of Ter Chadain
Hair: blonde, shoulder length and curly
Eyes: deep blue
Height and Weight: 5’4, 115lbs
Likes: honesty, family, doing the right thing
Dislikes: being lied to, keeping secrets, surprises
Habits: bites her lower lip when thinking or distressed
Personality Traits: retreats when threatened at first, timid at first, becomes more confident
History to this point: witnessed the death of her foster family, shocked when told she is a Zele Magus and the Queen of Ter Chadain
Teah is not as confident as Logan at first, but comes into her own when he leaves her at the Citadel of the Zele Magus. She begins to gain confidence in her abilities and soon sees the future before her ruling a country. She is reluctant to command but is forced to begin taking control of herself and stands up for her friends with Galena and soon is a force to be feared when crossed. Her once timid demeanor gives way to a majestic, honest, fair, but powerful leader who is reluctant, but not afraid to kill in order to survive and see that her friends and cause survives.
Lucias Grinwald
Title: Viri Magus of the First Order
Hair: Gray and Brown
Eyes: Brown
Height and Weight: 5’9”, 160lbs
Likes: being in control, respect, honesty
Dislikes: not being in control, secrets and surprises
Habits: pulling at his beard or pacing with his hands behind his back when in thought
Personality Traits: short tempered, secretive, on a need to know basis with others, chess master
History to this point: Was the personal Viri Magus to Teah and Logan’s real parents. Was middle age then and this is sixteen years later so he is 50-60 yrs old.
Grinwald has gone through the Viri Castle and trained to be at the master level of the Viri Magus. He knows the prophecy of the Protector inside and out and realizes how dangerous Logan is. He plots with Galena from the start to rein these two young people in and steer them away from the path of destruction for as long as possible. Grinwald has vowed to kill Logan before he can destroy his beloved Ter Chadain. It is this sense of the greater good that drives Grinwald and justifies his path of control and manipulation of the two Lassains.
Sasha
Title: Betra – The Seeker
Hair: Black, long to waist
Eyes: dark brown, almost black
Height and Weight: 6 foot, 170lbs
Likes: Undying loyalty, bravery, fearlessness
Dislikes: patronizing, secretiveness, disrespect to Protector
Habits: Clenching her fist and tensing her jaw when frustrated or controlling anger
Personality Traits: quick to anger, high sense of responsibility and honor
History to this point: Sent to find the Protector and serve him. Representing entire Betra race.
Sasha has waited her entire life for the coming of the Protector. Her mother, mother’s mother, and mother’s, mother’s mother have all been seekers before her and never had the time come. She has the mission to return the Protector to the Forbidden and then convince him to accept their help in Reclaiming Ter Chadain and bring honor back to her people who have been labeled Betrayers to the Protector. She has the entire future of her people driving her to succeed at all costs, even if that path strays from where Teah, Grinwald, Galena or even Logan wish it to go.
Galena
Title: Zele Magus/Mistress of Power
Hair: Blonde, Long
Eyes: Blue
Weight: 5’5”, 120lbs
Likes: Control, respect shown to her, unwavering loyalty to her order
Dislikes: disrespect, not knowing one’s place, people of slow or lower intelligence and power
Habits: crossing arms, scowling, pursing lips.
Personality Traits: superiority complex, commanding presence. Her desire is to gain even more power.
History to this point: Charged with getting Teah and returning her for training to the Citadel. She becomes personal tutor for the young queen.
Galena wants power above all else and will do anything to get it. She wants to be the next advisor to Teah when she becomes queen. She is a distant ancestor to the Lassain lineage and feels she should be in line for the throne. She cannot claim it directly, so her plan is to influence Teah until Galena has more power and followers than anyone can stop when she makes her push for the throne. She is very loyal to the order but wants to combine the positions of Queen of Ter Chadain and Magus Matris when she takes control.
